PREVIOUSLY: ZARA GRETTI

        Previously on ASKforum

Zara Gretti is a Nigerian-American who was born Margaret-Mary Joseph on July 30th sometime in the mid 80’s. She was exposed to different religions and cultures as she was raised by Catholic and Muslim families from various ethnic groups in Nigeria.

As a young lady, Zara was a part of her church and school choirs. Being an extrovert and a natural performer, she enjoyed dancing to entertain others. In the summer of 1999, Zara moved to the Philadelphia area in the United States where she eventually graduated as one of the top 10 students in her High School graduating class. She was also a recipient of several academic awards. She then completed her undergraduate study at the University of Pittsburgh and worked afterwards as a Paralegal while discovering herself as an artiste.

Zara Gretti first jumped in a recording booth in the summer of 2006. She was encouraged by her friends Keno Kennett and Eldee the Don to discover the artiste in herself. She carried on this path and released the record “Good Girl/Bad Girl” produced in Atlanta by Nigerian producer/artiste Seven. This track caught the attention of DJ Dee Money and many Nigerian DJs.

Over the next few years, Zara garnered major internet hype especially on the popular music blog “NotJustOk”.

In December 2009, Zara Gretti relocated to Nigeria to further her music career as she was then signed to Alapomeji, a record label owned by 9ice. This contract was however terminated on mutual grounds before the term was completed. She was also previously managed by Toni Payne Concepts.

Zara Gretti went on as an independent act and then went under a new
management. Zara Gretti is popularly known for the singles “The Flyest” and "Aboko Ku”. She has worked with producers such as ID Cabasa, Spankie Doodle, Kid Konnect, Dognomite, Teffler, TFlava, Sazzy (RIP) and many more.

She has also worked with Eldee The Don, 2 Shotz, Freestyle, Jahbourne, DBlack from Ghana amongst others.

ZaraGretti was our first Guest on ASKforum (Ask#ZARA) and we had an awesome time with her.
We eventually lost Zara to Multiple Sclerosis in 2014 but she forever remains in our hearts, never to be forgotten.
